Pre-admission programsConley Scholars ProgramHigh school seniors in Missouri and contigious states are eligible to apply for acceptance into the Conley Scholars Program, which assures them acceptance into the School of Medicine when they successfully complete their undergraduate work at MU. Undergraduate students in this program may help conduct medical research, participate in clinically related activities such as observing surgeries and take a variety of undergraduate classes instead of feeling restricted to primarily pre-medical classes. Conley Scholars are advised by a School of Medicine faculty member and are not required to take the Medical College Admission Test. To apply to the program, students must score a minimum of 30 on the ACT or 1300 on the SAT. The deadline for applying is Feb. 1 of the senior year of high school. Download the appplication here. With a limited number of scholars chosen each year, selection to the Conley Scholars Program is competitive. Test score requirements are only minimums for application eligibility; selection is based upon evaluation of full academic credentials and personal qualities as determined through personal interviews and letters of recommendation. Applicants who have strong interest in practicing medicine in rural and other underserved areas of the state particularly are encouraged to apply. To remain part of the program, Conley Scholars must take at least one year of course work, with a laboratory, in each of the following: biology, organic chemistry and physics. They also must achieve a grade of B or higher in the required courses, with a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or higher, and must complete requirements necessary to receive the General Honors Certificate issued by the Honors College.
