Traumatic Brain Injury
MRC offers a full continuum of care with one of the most comprehensive brain injury rehab programs in the state of Missouri. Patients are moved through the program on an individualized rehab plan specific to their needs and abilities. Patients with brain injuries who enter MRC are served through one or more of eight separate treatment programs:
Intensive Care Unit
Our state-of-the-art intensive care unit makes it possible for us to accept patients from other hospital trauma intensive care units.
Special Brain Injury Unit
The Special Brain Injury Unit offers help for patients who are experiencing behavioral problems as a result of a brain injury. The program serves those whose behavior disorders are severe enough to interfere with their rehabilitation.
In this self-contained program, environmental stimulation is kept to a minimum. Specialized techniques and therapeutic modalities are used to modify or manage behaviors so patient rehabilitation may progress. More intensive staffing ensures consistency of interventions and enables staff members to use the least restrictive measures possible.
Inpatient Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program
Patients admitted to the Inpatient Brain Injury Rehabilitation floor of MRC receive medical and nursing care from a team of specialists. All therapies and treatment are provided on this floor in this highly specialized program.
Assistive Technology Assessment Center
Patients may receive services from the Assistive Technology Assessment Center if they have communication disorders, motor or physical disabilities or work related injuries. An Assistive Technology team of specialists will provide assessments, evaluations and recommendations for adaptive and alternative hardware and software.
Vocational Rehabilitation Program
The Vocational Rehabilitation Program offers a variety of services designed to assist individuals with employment-related concerns. Professional staff members may provide participants with vocational evaluation, career counseling and exploration, job search preparation and assistance as well as placement referrals.
Referral and Admissions
Our admissions team will provide medical pre-admission screening to ensure appropriate admission placement. The team will assist in making arrangements for a thorough evaluation upon arrival to MRC. Please don't hesitate to inquire about the availability of other needed accommodations to complete the admission process.
