Phones
Each patient phone in the hospital has its own directdial number, which allows patients and families to make and receive calls. The nursing staff will inform you of the number to your child's room.
There is no charge for local use, but you must use an outside operator for long-distance calls. Telephones are available for hearing-impaired, deaf and sight-impaired patients.
Calls can be made directly to patient rooms between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.
Emergency calls from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. are forwarded to the nurses' station; however, calls are not forwarded on Labor and Delivery or the Post-Partum unit.
Calls to patient phones that are unanswered after six rings are forwarded to the nurses' station.
